Biko Owhondah // Graduate Procurement Engineer < back

How did you first hear about Foster Wheeler?
"I first heard about Foster Wheeler from other students in the university; it's such a large company that everyone was talking about them, what they were doing in the oil and gas industry which I was a part of.   So I had to look at the website and was very impressed with what I saw so I applied."

How did you find the application process?
"The application process for me was pretty straightforward. It was online where I sent in my CV and covering letter.  I got a call and came in for the graduate assessment day which was made up of an hour interview, a technical interview and a group exercise which encouraged team building rather than role play which can scare lots of graduates away!"

How did you settle in to Foster Wheeler?
"My first week on the Graduate Programme started off with an induction week; I was lucky to have a week long induction and it was fun.  It incorporated team building, we had activities where we went out and there were night events and more than ever it just showed me how Foster Wheeler cared about its graduates and that endeared me to the company."

What experience have you gained so far?
"Since starting at Foster Wheeler I have had three rotations: A contracts engineer's rotation, a buyer’s rotation and a material controller’s rotation.  I have been so impressed with the level of responsibility I have had on all three rotations and I’m sure graduates in other companies would never have had this much experience so quickly."

How is the social side to the job?
"My social life since joining Foster Wheeler has been just great, I have had loads of opportunites to meet people and have gone out on company sponsored social events.  I have been part of lots of social clubs which the company has encouraged each person to join."
