World-Scale LNG Expansion Project – Western Australia
Back in March 2005, when Woodside Energy (Operator) on behalf of the North West Shelf Venture, awarded us the contract for the Phase V Expansion Project at its existing LNG complex at Karratha.
This project was the world's first onshore liquefaction plant to be designed and built in modules. So we're pioneering in every sense – all in an environment featuring extreme weather conditions and the potential for tropical cyclones!
As with every Foster Wheeler project, safety management is at the forefront - our philosophy is that all injuries are preventable and everyone has to be 100% committed to achieving the highest possible HSE performance.
On this project, we were able to achieve our target to deliver a significant improvement on the safety performance reached by the contractors who built the site's fourth train.
The key to this is our behavioural-based Continual Observation & Risk Evaluation, or 'CORE', programme. Including everyone - from senior management right the way down - this innovative system has already proven successful in this and other projects.
And the new train produced LNG ahead of target!
